Closing this site

Postby pete2hogs on Fri Mar 26, 2010 9:04 am

Hi Everyone

I've not been here for a long time because unfortunatly my wife was diagnosed with cancer last year and has since passed away.

Given that Gordon Highlander seems to have passed into safe hands is there any point in continuing this site? If no-one thinks so or I get no replies I'll take it down at the end of April

Best regards to all

Pete

Many thanks to those who set it up, in the first place! Whilst I'm certain there was no serious threat to the loco's continued existance, it was gratifying to see, first hand, the tremendous degree of support the loco engendered. Having been instrumental in its 'escape' from the dreaded torch in the first place, it's particularly re-assuring to see it re-united with "RSG"!

One final thought, if I may? There doesn't seem to be a website forum in existance through which admirers of Deltics in general can discuss "Times Past". True, we are blessed with probably the best historical website of any loco type, Chronicles of Napier (& long may it remain so!), and there's plenty(?) of support for the remaining locos on-line, but for those of us who lived (& loved?) through the "Deltic Era", as far as I can tell, there's nothing of any substance. Now, whilst I've had my last ever runs behind, or on, or driven, I'm still extremely interested in what went before! Any thoughts - anyone?

Hi Pete,

Sorry to hear about your wife.

I think closing the site down makes sense - maybe offer to transfer the domain to Martin Walker somehow?

All the best,

Mike
