Spam

Postby pete2hogs on Fri Feb 20, 2009 11:31 am

Hi everyone

We seem currently to be getting more than our fair share of spam attacks. We are trying to clamp down on this, but in the mean time, be aware that links in spam messages should not under any circumstances be clicked on - they are likely to result in virus infections.

I have copied this message into the two forums most affected.

Best Regards to all

Pete

Further to this, I've temporarily prevented new members from joining via the forum software. The spam originates from spurious new members created automatically - there are ways to prevent this, but until we have them in place please contact us by email if you wish to join the forum.

Glad to see that you have managed to get on top of this irritation. 18 pages of (now) non-existant members is proof (if proof were needed) that these spammers will stop at nothing :-)

The gallery is getting its fair share of spam as well - I've got used to the 'delete user' button!
